MyInfo Hints

Before you enter anything manually in MyInfo, see if you have one or more PDFs or good photos of your insurance documents that you can upload for automatic data extraction, it's usually easier to check this than it is to enter everything from scratch.

As you enter information in MyInfo, start at the top and work down. Things turn green when you've made progress in each category. For auto insurance, you'll create the autos first, then you'll create an auto policy, then you'll add the autos with the coverages (auto coverages) to the auto policy, you'll then add drivers to the auto policy and and finally you'll enter any traffic violations or accidents. For umbrella policies, you'll first create the umbrella policy, then add underlying policies (umbrella underlying coverage) such as a home/homeowner insurance policy and finally add individuals to the umbrella. It's easier than it sounds - enter things from top to bottom! Get all of the people, residences, vehicles and insurance policies in your family inputted quickly, run your first set of ideas and take a look. Then focus on the area you are most concerned about, review the information in MyInfo and as you make changes there and improve the accuracy of your inputs, rerun MyIdeas. We supply default values for things like limits and deductibles on policies to help get you up and running quickly. There's a lot of complexity in insurance, so don't worry if it's not perfect, a few iterations through everything should get you at least to the point where you have a good list of questions and ideas to discuss with your agent or insurer. That should send you well down the road to getting the coverage you need at a price point that's attractive.
